I am enamored with the exploration of our interconnectedness. The living space between us, just like air—invisible—but is so much more. Sometimes clear skies. Sometimes fog. Sometimes that space is laden with the changing pressure of a brewing storm.
As I write this, I am listening to The Deep Heart by John J. Prendergast, and it is expanding my heart with hope, inspiration, and a deep connectedness.
Per Dr. Prendergast’s experience and research, when we are with ourselves and each other in a deep way, we experience heartfelt clarity and joy, a shared palpable sense of intimacy, a contagious sense of well-being, and a vibrant communion.
I feel this heart-filled connectedness in many places these days: with my therapy clients, supportive writing spaces, near copper birch trees, on the water, being drawn into a story, and having wonder-filled epiphanies.
Where have you felt a stirring of this? At a concert? With the ebb and flow of the waves at the beach? A loving sexual encounter? During meditation?
If you haven’t, or would like to deepen your ability to experience this, I highly recommend reading The Deep Heart, and doing therapy with somatic and soulful components, such as Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, and Jungian.
I basically live in my inner world, so making that space a wonderful space to be has been transformative. The above resources have been helpful to me along the way. And have opened my connection to my inner Self, and thus the Collective Self. You could also call this the Divine. The web, hive, nest of Essence, Flow, and Aliveness. Collective Consciousness some might call it.
John J. Prendergast writes:
There is so much we take for granted that isn’t really true. For example, we think we are a separate inside self living within a separate outside world. In other words, we think we are inside this body somewhere, when we carefully look, we can’t locate exactly where.
Allan Watts, the self-described philosophical entertainer wrote, “the prevalent sensation of oneself as a separate ego enclosed in a bag of skin is a hallucination. Are we really separate and divided from the whole of life?
If we explore where we are, with curiosity, we might even find that…“rather than being in the world, the world is in you, as open, infinite awareness.” (ibid)
I have felt so many times in this space, that I’m bigger on the inside! Just like the Tardis and Antonio’s room.
I would love to have you join me on this journey of becoming bigger on the inside. For your inner life to be a place of adventure and wonder. You can join me on that journey here:
